TL/LTL Freight Rating Expert – Job Description

Location: Charleston, SC (On-Site Only)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll be responsible for auditing Less-than-Truckload (LTL) and Truckload (TL) freight invoices, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring accurate application of carrier contracts. You’ll partner closely with our Head Auditor and Collections Manager to deliver exceptional results.
You’ll work on:
• Auditing monthly TL and LTL freight invoices for accuracy and contract compliance
• Interpreting and validating freight, fuel, and accessorial charges
• Leveraging rating software to review invoices efficiently and accurately
• Identifying and documenting billing errors or patterns for further analysis
• Assisting with the collections process related to freight overcharges
• Communicating clearly and professionally via email and Zoom with internal and external
partners
• Providing support to the Head Auditor and Collections Manager on projects as needed
What You Bring to the Table
You’re sharp, analytical, and focused. You take pride in making sure every detail is spot on, and you know how to keep things moving.
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has 1+ year of direct rate auditing experience (TL and/or LTL required)
• Is proficient in freight rating software and understands industry terminology
• Can confidently analyze freight invoices, including base rates, fuel surcharges, and
accessorials
• Is highly experienced in Microsoft Excel and proficient with Word, Outlook, and
PowerPoint
• Manages and responds to a high volume of emails professionally and promptly
• Possesses strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Remains calm under pressure while meeting tight deadlines
Bonus points if you:
• Have 2+ years of experience in the freight audit industry
• Hold a 4-year degree (preferred, not required)
